‘Lakeview Terrace’ Review

Lakeview_Terrace_poster
So we kinda went into this one with a bias since this was the same studio that brought “I am Legend” to theaters(Will Smith tickles our fancy). And overall…. it wasn’t a disappointment.
Of course your never gonna get a bad performance from Samuel L. Jackson(we haven’t seen Snakes on a Plane yet so roll with us on this one) and the role of psycho cop fits him perfectly. He definitely fits the role of the antagonist that you grow to despise throughout the story. The other actors Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington also deliver solid performances and are easily identifiable as the every day people that we are to relate to.
One great thing about this movie is that it follows no formulaic plot progression. This doesn’t mean there were plot twists or suspenseful moments, because these were limited but the viewer is definitely getting the “I know where this is going” feeling.
The biggest hit on this movie is the lack of….caring. While the characters were easy to identify with, at the end of the movie it was a “who cares” moment. We weren’t engrossed in the movie, there was always this sense of detached realism, that kept this movie from being truly great.
In a nutshell its definitely worth a watch. A must-see? By no means.
